This month’s program features an important conversation on invasive plant species and the health of Fairfax County’s tree canopy, followed by a presentation from our School Board representatives.
Featured Program (60 minutes)

We are pleased to welcome a panel representing two countywide partners working to combat invasive plants on both public and private lands:

Fairfax Invasives Removal Alliance (FIRA) – firaadvocacy.com
FIRA brings together homeowners associations, condo associations, and civic groups to support advocacy at the state and county levels, advancing policy solutions and practical strategies to protect our environment.

Fairfax PRISM – fairfaxprism.org
Fairfax PRISM coordinates action among government agencies, nonprofits, and community volunteers to identify, remove, and prevent the spread of invasive species that threaten the health of our trees and natural areas.

Our speakers will discuss:
-
How invasive species threaten Fairfax County’s tree canopy
-
On-the-ground work underway across the county
-
Practical steps homeowners, HOAs, and civic associations can take to identify and control invasive plants in their own neighborhoods

School Board Presentation
We will also hear from Fairfax County School Board members, who will provide updates on:
-
Fully funding FCPS budget requests
-
The proposed new high school
-
Boundary considerations
-
Superintendent-level priorities and planning
Business Portion of the Meeting
Following the presentations, we will proceed with Board and Officer updates, committee reports, old and new business, and discussion of the upcoming Local Issues Package.
Your participation is essential to ensuring the Federation continues to represent the voices of homeowner and civic associations across every part of Fairfax County. We encourage you to attend, engage, and share these updates with your communities.
Please let us know if you have questions or would like to add an announcement to the agenda.
We look forward to seeing you on November 20.
