New Dates to Come for General Community Meetings

Please see below communication about Fairfax County's "Plan Forward".

The general Plan Forward community meetings scheduled for November 16, November 18 and December 2 are postponed and will be rescheduled for early 2025. This decision was made to allow staff time to incorporate feedback received from the community outreach to date, as well as complete research and publish white papers on specific topics that will be used to guide the development of these future community meetings.

Stay tuned for the new dates and details on the general community meetings! We will share as soon as they are confirmed.

As Fairfax County’s, multi-year project, Plan Forward, moves forward to update policies that guide how land is developed, we are excited to announce several community meetings scheduled for this fall.

Plan Forward focuses specifically on the Policy Plan, which is a component of the Comprehensive Plan, the county’s long-term vision for land use. It is an important opportunity to ensure updated Comprehensive Plan policies such as land use, housing, sustainability, and transportation, enhance the quality of life for our residents. Because public feedback is critical to reflect the community’s planning vision, this fall we are offering:

  • a mix of tables at existing community events,

  • virtual topic focused meetings, and

  • larger community meetings for the overall project.

The topic focused meetings, noted below, begin next week and offer participants the same content at two different times, for participants to join when it is most convenient. The larger community meetings, scheduled for November and December, will also offer the same content at various times and locations.  Take a look at our project website to get full meeting details and see all upcoming engagement opportunities. Additional meetings will be posted as they are confirmed, too.

We highly encourage those interested in a particular topic or topics within the Policy Plan to attend a topic focused virtual community meeting in the month ahead:
