Meetings
Meetings during 2008-2009 will be held every other month on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 pm at the Packard Center, i.e., November 11, January 13, March 10, and May 12.
Committee Activities for 2008-2009
- Continued to monitor FCPS School Board’s Transportation Task Force recommendations
- Arranged for Superintendent to speak on his proposed FY10 Budget at the January membership meeting
- NEW! Provided testimony on the FCPS Superintendent's Proposed FY10 Budget, Verbal and Written
- Reviewed the education portion of the Federation’s legislative package
Committee Accomplishments in 2007-2008
- Prepared a resolution in support of FCPS 2007 Bond Referndum
- Three members participated in many meetings and reviewed many documents as part of the FCPS Transportation Task Force to identify cost saving measures and to assess community acceptability of bell schedule changes so that high school students would not be the first age group to begin the school day.
- Provided input on education matters for the Federation’s Legislative package
- Arranged for a presentation to the Federation Membership by the FCPS Superintendant on his proposed Budget. Unfortunately, weather caused its cancellation.
- Critically reviewed the proposed and "accepted" FCPS budgets, and submitted testimony on both: Verbal and Written.
- Contributed to the Federation’s position on the County budget
- Reviewed the FCPS residency requirements
- Endeavored to understand the FCPS programs to improve the academic achievement of some minorities through a meeting with appropriate staff

- Written testimony on Proposed FCPS FY08 Budget raising concerns about projected FY09 budget shortfall and recommending delay of expanding programs.
- Verbal testimony on Proposed FCPS FY08 Budget
- Testimony on Superintendent’s Proposed FY08 Budget Testimony in support of the transfer process for unneeded land to BOS in exchange for a $30 million increase in FCPS’s Construction Improvement Plan (CIP) in each of the next 6 years
- Resolution in support of the 08 FCPS Bond Referendum Testimony in support of the initial consolidation of several FCPS administrative buildings
- Provided testimony in support of the initial consolidation of several administrative buildings.
- Testimony on FCPS Draft Approved Budget presented at May 14, 2008 FCSB Hearing
